New South Wales has recorded its deadliest day of the pandemic with 29 people losing their lives in the last 24 hours.
The state also recorded another 63,018 new COVID cases overnight.
Of those, 37,938 were positive rapid test results including more than 24,000 from the previous seven days.
New South Wales now has 2525 people being treated for COVID in hospital with 184 patients in ICU.
Meantime, Victoria has recorded 34,836 new COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths.
The new infections include 15,440 from rapid antigen tests and 19,396 from PCR tests.
The number of people being treated in hospitals has risen to a new high of 976 with 112 in intensive care and 30 on ventilators.
Victoria now has 239,396 active cases of COVID.
