New South Wales and Victoria are expected to ease Covid isolation rules for household contacts in a matter of days.

The rule, which requires people to isolate for seven days if they’re a household contact of a COVID-19 case, is expected to be scrapped as early as this weekend.

Health officials from both states have met to discuss the move.

The easing of the restrictions will be music to the ears of business owners across the two states.

They have long been calling for the restriction to be dropped, saying it has left them short-staffed at a critical time.

It comes as the Omicron wave continues to ease.
