The beachfront home and luxury car will have to wait, with no one picking the winning numbers for last night’s $60 million Powerball Jackpot.
It means the jackpot has now soared to a whopping $80 million, the biggest division one prize offered by any Australian lottery so far this year.
The Lott confirmed late last night that there were no tickets holding the lucky seven winning numbers and the all-important Powerball, prompting the jackpot to continue to roll.
However, despite no one becoming an overnight millionaire, a total of 1,765,572 prizes worth more than $32.5 million were won in divisions two to nine.
Among the winners were seven people who each took home a cool $128,580.25.
The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said up to one-in-four Australian adults were now expected to buy an entry into next Thursday’s $80 million draw.
“This is the first time Powerball has soared to $80 million in 2022, so this is a draw you don’t want to miss,” she said.
“In the history of Powerball, we’ve also only seen an $80 million Powerball prize won five times previously.
“On two of those occasions, the $80 million prize was shared among several players, while the other three jackpot prizes were won by individuals who now share the title of Australia’s third-biggest lottery winner.
“If one person scores that $80 million jackpot next Thursday night, they’ll also share that title and be 2022’s biggest lottery winner to date!”
The $80 million Powerball draw, draw 1344, is on 17 February 2022.
