Melbourne has been ranked as the most liveable city in Australia, coming in equal 10th in a list of the world’s most liveable.

That’s despite the Victorian capital enduring the world’s longest lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The result is a fall from eighth place in 2021.

Sydney came in 13th place on the international list while Adelaide tumbled from third to 30th.

Brisbane also saw a big fall, dropping 17 places to 27th, with Queensland’s border closures and health crisis largely to blame.

Perth was the 32nd most liveable city in the world.

The index by the Economist Intelligence Unit takes into account things like infrastructure, education, healthcare, culture and environment.
