A major investigation is underway in Melbourne after an innocent driver was killed in a horror crash involving an allegedly stolen car.
The two vehicles collided at an intersection in Burwood, in Melbourne’s east, around 7pm last night.
Despite desperate efforts by emergency crews, the male driver of the first vehicle died at the scene.
According to police, several males in the other car, alleged to have been stolen, immediately fled the scene on foot.
However, two teenage girls, who were also alleged to have been passengers in the stolen vehicle, were arrested.
The pair, both aged 15, were taken to hospital under police guard.
A major search involving the dog squad is now underway for the males who ran from the scene, as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
