An urgent recall has been issued for a number of popular Kinder treats just a week out from Easter, with fears the chocolate may be contaminated with salmonella.
The recall affects the Kinder Easter Basket 120g (6x20g), Kinder Mini Eggs Hazelnut 100g, Kinder Surprise Maxi 100g and Kinder Surprise Maxi – Natoons 100g.
“The recall is due to potential microbial (Salmonella) contamination,” the recall notice reads.
“Food products contaminated with Salmonella may cause illness if consumed.”
The impacted chocolate has been available for sale nationally at Coles, Woolworths, Target, Kmart, Big W, independent food retailers including IGA and petrol stations, and online.
“Consumers should not eat this product and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the recall stated.
“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”
All other Ferrero products, including other Kinder products, have not been affected.
