Mourners wanting to pay tribute to cricket legend Shane Warne at a public memorial service in Melbourne will be able to get tickets from today.
The service will be held at the MCG on Wednesday, March 30 starting at 7pm (AEDT).
It’s expected up to 50,000 free tickets will be made available to the public when they go online at 3pm (AEDT) this afternoon.
Warne died after suffering a major heart attack while holidaying in Thailand earlier this month.
He was farewelled at a private funeral service on Sunday attended by family and close friends.
Warne’s public memorial service next week is expected to run for two hours and feature highlights of his cricketing career.
There will also be musical video tributes from Ed Sheeran and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
The service will be livestreamed while other cricket grounds around the country are also expected to show the service, including the SCG, the Gabba and Optus Stadium.
Tickets will be available at vic.gov.au/shane-warne.
We've got some details locked in for Warnie's memorial at the MCG.
The service will begin at 7pm, 30 March.
Free tickets will be available for booking from today at 3pm, at https://t.co/qXOL7WTyrk
And don't worry – if you can't make it, the memorial will be livestreamed.
