An eight-year-old Australian resident has died while holidaying with his family in Fiji.
The boy was discovered by a guest in a garden bed at Club Wyndham on Denarau Island on Thursday evening.
He was taken to hospital in Nadi but could not be saved.
Initial investigations suggest the boy may have been electrocuted but Police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem.
The boy was a New Zealand citizen but had been living in Sydney.
“We have expressed our heartfelt condolences to the family and our thoughts remain with them at this time,” a Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific spokesperson said.
“The resort management team is working closely with local police and authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the boy‘s death, and say they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.”
