Sea World Cruises has reported spotting an average of just over five whales per tour! In recent days, passengers have been treated to extraordinary behaviors, such as “muggings.” These unique close encounters involve humpback whales curiously approaching the boat to get a closer look at the humans watching them. Witnessing the whales peeking their heads above the waterline to observe the vessel truly enchanting moment.

In other whale news, the Gold Coast Whale Festival is happening this weekend, August 12 from 10:00 AM to 4:30 AM, at Justin’s Park, Burleigh Heads! Hosted by Queensland’s largest marine mammal monitoring program, Humpbacks & Highrises, the event creates a unique opportunity for all attendees to dive into the world of Gold Coast Bay’s whales and gain insights into their significane to the marine ecosystem. Individuals will also discover how their personal efforts can play a vital role in making a positive impact on the environment.

With live music, an assortment of stalls and exhibits, organised by various groups leading marine and coastal sustainability efforts, the festival ensures an exciting experience for everyone.
