Work will be carried out tonight to remove debris caused by a landslip at Burleigh Heads.

Rocks began tumbling down a hill adjacent to the Gold Coast Highway in the days after Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Most of that debris was thankfully caught by a fence installed on the hill.

One southbound lane lane has been closed since the landslip as well as pedestrian access.

Crews will be on site between 7pm and midnight on Thursday night to clear the fallen rocks from the catch fence.

That will require lanes on the Gold Coast Highway to be closed.

Transport and Main Roads has advise the work will see short-term traffic holds will be in place across all lanes as well as footpaths.

Motorists are being warned they could be held up for up to 20-minutes.
