A man has been charged following a dramatic arrest in Surfers Paradise this morning.
A Gold Coast police spokesperson said officers were called to a car hire shop along Trickett Street around 5.45am, after members of the public spotted a person trying to break into the store.
When police arrived on scene, the 29-year-old man fled into a nearby unit, with footage showing him dangerously scaling the balconies before barricading himself inside.
Following almost 40 minutes of negotiations, the 29-year-old man finally surrendered and was arrested.
The Park Ridge man is facing charges of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and two counts of obstruct police and three counts of wilful damage.
He’s expected to face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
