Young man killed after being struck by a car on the Gold Coast

A pedestrian has been killed on the Gold Coast after being hit by a car on a busy motorway.

The 21-year-old man was struck by a Hyundai Veloster along Smith Street in Southport at around 11.10pm Friday night.

The driver of the vehicle, also a 21-year-old male, was not injured.

The collision closed down Smith Street westbound near Village Boulevard for several hours.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam vision, is urged to contact police.
