A woman has been hospitalised following a nasty electric scooter crash in Southport in the early hours of this morning.
The woman, aged in her 20s, came off the e-scooter along Allsopp Close around 1.30am on Monday.
She suffered a number of facial injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
She was then taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
It comes just a week after the State Government announced a further crackdown on e-scooter riders by introducing new legislation to Parliament that will see them face the same penalties as motorists.
Under the new rules, designed to reduce the number of serious crashes, e-scooter riders will be forced to remain at the scene of an accident and could be hit with court appearances and penalties of $6,000 for dangerous behaviour.
