A woman has been charged and a man remains on the run following a terrifying break-in at a home on the northern Gold Coast.

The brazen duo allegedly forced their way into a home along Doherty Court in Ormeau around 5pm on Wednesday.

Once inside, they ransacked the property, stealing a number of items, before attempting to leave in a stolen Hyundai which they had arrived in.

However, as they were trying to make their escape, the female owner of the property arrived home in her black Audi RS7 and confronted the pair.

The duo then allegedly drove at the woman’s car before jumping out of their Hyundai and stealing the Audi.

Police launched a major manhunt after being alerted to the incident and tracked down a 28-year-old Dunwich woman at a service station a short time later.

She has since been charged with three counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of enter dwelling with intent and is due to front court today.
