A 23-year-old woman has been charged after a 5-month-old baby girl was found with life-threatening injuries at a Gold Coast home earlier this year.
Police launched a major investigation on February 1, after finding the baby unconscious and suffering cardiac arrest at a Coomera address.
The infant was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition, where she remains receiving treatment today.
Subsequent tests have confirmed the baby has significant internal injuries.
Detectives from the Gold Coast District Child Protection and Investigation Unit formed ‘Operation Victor Sector’ to investigate the cause of her injuries.
A 23-year-old woman from Sunnybank Hills has been charged with grievous bodily harm and appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today for mention.
She is due to reappear in the Southport Magistrates Court on June 6.
