The Gold Coast has woken to an early taste of winter with locals reaching for extra layers this morning.
The winter blast is thanks to a cold and dry airmass moving its way across most of eastern Australia delivering chilly southwesterly winds.
The Gold Coast Seaway dipped to 11.6 degrees just after 6am, but the ‘feels-like’ temp was 6.6 degrees.
The Seaway also recorded chilly winds of 46 ks/h as the change moved through earlier this morning.
Coolangatta recorded a low of 5.2 degrees just before 5am.
Canungra got down to 4.6 degrees just before 6am.
The Gold Coast is forecast to reach a sunny top of 23 degrees on Monday, but westerly winds will make it feel cooler than that.
Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday with the mercury dipping to 9 degrees in the morning before a sunny day with tops of 23.
