The Gold Coast will come alive this weekend, as we bid farewell to the year 2022.

The night skies will be lit up in Coomera, Broadwater Parklands, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Coolangatta to ring in the new year.

Midnight displays will be held at Broadbeach, Coolangatta and Surfers Paradise, while an array of family-friendly events will also be held across the city.

Broadwater Parklands and Coomera will host full New Year’s Eve events for families to enjoy including family disco party’s with live music, DJ’s. food trucks and more.

Other free New Year’s Eve celebrations can be enjoyed at Varsity Promenade in Varsity Lakes, Harley Park in Labrador, Silver Bridle Park in Molendinar and Paradise Point Parklands.

Acting Mayor Donna Gates says it’s going to be an amazing night.

“We’re looking forward to bringing people together to celebrate at one of our free events or simply pick a spot along the coast to watch the fireworks,” says Acting Mayor Gates.

“From Coolangatta to Coomera we have lots of local free events, and there’s many pockets of celebrations this year too.”

The City of Gold Coast’s list of New Year’s Eve event:

Broadwater Parklands

  • Marine Parade, Southport
  • Event 4pm – 8pm
  • Fireworks at 8pm
  • A family disco party with live entertainment, kids’ activities such as face painting, sports zone, free popcorn and selfie walls, plus food trucks. Catch the G:Link to Southport Station.

Coomera

  • Viney Park, Yaun Street
  • Event 5pm to 9pm
  • Fireworks at 9pm
  • Entertainment will include food trucks, amusement rides and live entertainment with a kids’ show

Surfers Paradise

  • Surfers Paradise sign on The Esplanade (fireworks will be set off from the ocean on a barge)
  • Fireworks at 8pm and midnight
  • Entertainment by DJ Vice form 7pm
  • Make a booking at one of the many nearby restaurants
  • Catch the G:Link to Surfers Paradise Station to avoid traffic congestion
  • The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise, between the Soul Building roundabout and Hanlan Street roundabout will be closed from 6pm 31 December to 4am 1 January. Detours will be in place.

Broadbeach

  • Kurrawa Pratten Park, Old Burleigh Road
  • Fireworks at 8pm and midnight
  • Make a booking at one of the many nearby restaurants
  • Catch the G:Link to Broadbeach North Station to avoid traffic congestion

Coolangatta

  • Fireworks at 9pm and midnight
  • Queen Elizabeth Park, opposite 60 Marine Parade
  • Make a booking at one of the many nearby restaurants
