A b-double truck driver has been charged after allegedly blowing more than six times over the limit in Coomera.
The 44-year-old man was found by police lying down on the side of the road on Dreamworld Parkway around 10am on Tuesday.
He had an empty bottle of liquor beside him and the truck was still running.
A bottle of bourbon was also found inside his rig.
Police say he refused to do a roadside breath test and attempted to flee back into his vehicle.
He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Southport Watchhouse, where he then allegedly blew a reading of 0.311 blood alcohol content.
The Mango Hill man has been charged with one count each of in charge of a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor and obstruct police and is due to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on January 10.
His licence was immediately suspended.
Police have released body-cam footage of the arrest, which can be viewed below.
Police continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam vision to contact investigators.
Sergeant Neville Stretton from Coomera station said drink driving was a contributing factor in more than 20 per cent of road fatalities in Queensland.
“Too many people are killed and seriously injured each year on Queensland roads as a result of drink driving,” Sergeant Stretton says.
“It’s disappointing that we are still seeing drivers get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol,
“Drinking alcohol reduces your ability to drive safely. It affects your judgement, vision, coordination and reflexes, which increases your risk of having a crash,
“Making that decision to drink drive can also have catastrophic consequences for other road users and their families.”
