Police have managed to track down one of the alleged thieves involved in a violent home invasion on the Gold Coast earlier this week.

Five people wearing balaclavas forced their way into a home on Kootingal Street in Ashmore around 11.30pm on Monday.

The 53-year-old female resident woke to the sound of her front-door opening and went to investigate when she spotted a male sitting in her blue Porsche Macan.

The woman tried to stop the male from getting away in the vehicle, when she was allegedly assaulted and dragged by her own car as it sped off.

The woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with grazing and bruising to her body.

A second vehicle, a black Land Rover Discovery, was also stolen from the property during the robbery.
