Get ready for plenty of glitz and glamour Gold Coast! Iconic Australian musical Priscilla: Queen of the Desert has pulled up to The Star Gold Coast!
Based on the Oscar-winning film, Priscilla is the hilarious adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus bound for Alice Springs to put on the show of a lifetime.
Producer Matt Ward said the show, which officially opens this Thursday, tells a heartwarming story of self-discovery, sassiness and acceptance.
“It’s a full night of disco hits and dance classics and of a course a beautiful storyline that brings it all together,” he told myGC.
“The story is about acceptance and being who you are and being proud of that and I think everyone in some capacity can relate to that.
“This is probably one of the biggest shows to hit the Gold Coast in a long time. We have over 25 people in the cast, a live band of 8 incredible musicians, and a team of 30 behind supporting from the wings.”

1029 Hot Tomato breakfast announcer Emily Jade O’Keeffe said she is thrilled to be involved in Priscilla.
“I think the show has stood the test of time. The movie was written over 20 years ago, the musical 16 years ago, but still the same theme of acceptance, finding your family however your family looks, and the message of just love one another – that’s the message I love about Priscilla,” she said.
In addition to playing the role of Marion, the ex-wife of Tick and mother of Benji, the local radio announcer revealed to myGC she will also be tackling another role on stage.
“I’m [also] playing a Russian mail-order bride called Ivanka, so still doing the same lines, just with a Russian accent, and still doing the same dance…. but a little twist on the ping-pong balls,” she said.
Emily Jade joins a talented line-up of performers in the show including transgender actor Yvonne ‘Vonni’ Britain, transgender cabaret performer Carlotta, and Australian pop star Paulini.
