Three teenagers have been arrested and charged over a brazen crime spree across the Gold Coast.

The boys, one aged 13 and two aged 17, are accused of stealing a Nissan X-Trail from Carrara on Saturday, January 4.

They’re then alleged to have threatened a teen in Nerang with a knife, forcing him to hand over his phone before a neighbour intervened and the culprits fled.

The trio was taken into custody on Monday afternoon after the stolen SUV was spotted along Rivergum Drive at Nerang.

The dog squad helped to track down two teens on Weedons Road, while the third boy was later founding hiding in the Nerang River.

A 13-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy, both from Highland Park, have been charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and receiving tainted property.

They were due to front Southport Children’s Court yesterday.

While the second 17-year-old boy was dealt with in accordance with the Youth Justice Act.
