Nine people have been arrested and charged following a two-month investigation into the trafficking of dangerous drugs on the Gold Coast.
Police launched ‘Operation Uniform Beads’ in June after receiving “intelligence” about the trafficking of heroin, methadone and cannabis across the city.
Following investigations, detectives raided a number of homes and a vehicle on Tuesday, where they allegeldy uncovered a stash of drugs and cash.
“It will be alleged that at a residence on Burleigh Street in Burleigh Waters, detectives uncovered approximately 126 grams of heroin, 624 grams of cannabis, 12 bottles of methadone, $30,000 cash, mobile phones, tick sheets and multiple drug utensils,” Queensland Police said.
“At a unit on the Gold Coast Highway in Miami, detectives allegedly uncovered approximately three grams of heroin, 2.4 grams of cannabis, electric scales, $480 cash and contact booklet.”
Police also searched a Ford Falcon ute, allegedly finding six grams of heroin, $850 cash, tick sheets, mobile phone and box of suboxone.
Seven men and two women, aged between 52 and 61, were arrested following the raids.
The group, from Burleigh Waters, Coolangatta, Currumbin, Varsity Lakes, Miami and East Lismore, have been hit with more than 50 drugs charges between them.
They will front Southport Magistrates Court later this month.
