Do you ever WONDER what it would be like if Home of the Arts (HOTA) was lit up with spectacular outdoor art, events and activities this spring?

From September 16 to 25, Gold Coasters and visitors will have the chance to celebrate the changing of the seasons with HOTA’S new program of contemporary art and sound, aptly titled WONDER.

“This year, WONDER at HOTA is back and it’s bigger and bolder than before, with larger than life art in the outdoors and an explosion of light and colour,” said HOTA CEO Criena Gehrke.

“WONDER is the perfect excuse to gather your family and friends to enjoy HOTA and our glorious Gold Coast spring.

“A time for revelry in one of the best seasons of the year, WONDER has absolutely something for everyone,” said Gehrke.

One of the highlights this year is Alcazar, meaning palace or fortress, which celebrates the spectacle of ‘art-chitecture.’

Standing at seven metres tall and 13 metres wide, the palace will envelope the surrounds in vibrant colours by day, and light up, casting dynamic and flowing colour with internal lights by night.

The work will play backdrop to several events across the 10 days of jam-packed events and activities.

On Saturday 17 September, experience the music of Daft Punk, backed by a party orchestra in The Daft Punk Experience with Alternative Symphony on the Outdoor Stage.

HOTA’s beloved free monthly storytelling series for kids; Rainbow Story Hour, will also take place in the balmy outdoors, and HOTA’s Kids Take Over and Wonder programs will culminate in a free family fun day on Sunday 25 September.
