A Gold Coast woman is among 18 people who have been charged following a major police operation targeting the alleged trafficking of drugs.
The operation began in May and has resulted in the seizure of 1.6 kilograms of Methylamphetamine and $117,180 in cash.
A whopping $101,750 was seized on one occasion when detectives tracked a Burleigh Heads woman from Rockhampton to Roma Street Station in Brisbane on July 28.
The 43-year-old was intercepted by the Railway Squad, who found the large sum of cash stuffed inside a cushion.
The woman has been issued a notice to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court next month on one count of possess tainted property.
Multiple search warrants were also executed in the Rockhampton suburbs of Gracemere, Park Avenue and Norman Gardens, where police uncovered approximately 1.2kg of methylamphetamine in a storage shed.
17 people, aged between 30 and 50, have been charged with a total of 62 drugs and weapons offences and will appear in court at later dates.
“This protracted investigation has successfully targeted a number of criminals who were distributing dangerous drugs throughout the region and causing considerable harm and concern to the community,” Detective Inspector Luke Peachey said.
“These arrests demonstrate our ongoing commitment to working with the community to disrupt criminal networks and maintain focus on the safety of our community in Queensland.”
