Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi Oi!
Tomorrow is Australia Day, and to mark the occasion, the City of Gold Coast is hosting an Australia Day celebration at Broadwater Parklands.
The free, family friendly event will kick off at 4pm, with plenty of fun on offer at the Great Lawn.
There will be an all-nations food truck line-up, kids activities, and a fireworks show to wrap up the event at 7:15pm.
Hot Tomato’s Moyra & Big Trev will also be there, broadcasting live throughout the afternoon from the main stage.
Mayor Tom Tate said the celebrations were the perfect way to enjoy the day.
“Australia Day is a time for all Australians to reflect, respect and celebrate,” he said.
“The best way is to do something Australian, so why not get together with family and friends or go to a local Australia Day event.
“There’s going to be food trucks, kids running around, games, thong throwing – everything that is Aussie entertainment. At 7:15pm we will have a fireworks display, with everything wrapped up by 7:30pm.”
Earlier in the day, a citizenship ceremony will take place at HOTA, with 40 candidates from 18 different nationalities to become new Australians.
