A wannabe thief has been bitten by a police dog while attempting to flee a brazen chemist robbery in Robina.
The 23-year-old man allegedly used a brick to smash his way into the Cheltenham Drive pharmacy around 2am on Wednesday.
Once inside, he ransacked the store, managing to steal a stack of prescription drugs before doing a runner.
But he didn’t get far, with the police dog squad arriving as he was attempting to flee.
“A short foot chase ensued and the man was detained by police with the assistance of the dog squad,” Queensland Police said.
“He sustained minor injuries from the dog in the arrest”.
The Pimpama man is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today charged with enter premise and commit an indictable offence.
