Just when you thought you had seen it all on the Gold Coast, a cow is on the loose at one of the area’s most popular beaches.

The cow was first spotted by shocked onlookers around lunchtime in the streets around Coolangatta and Tweed Heads.

It then took in the sights at Point Danger before wandering down to the beach where it’s been ever since, much to the amusement of locals.

It’s believed the animal survived being swept about 10kms down the Tweed River.

The cow is said to be distressed with Police now clearing the beach to avoid anyone being hurt.

Animal experts are also on the scene to help rescue the cow.

The cow at D-bah has fared better than others with a dead cow today found washed up on the beach at Mermaid.

Experts say it’s actually a common thing after major flood events and we can expect to see more dead animals wash up on beaches in the coming days.
