Police have finally tracked down two teens allegedly responsible for stealing a car in Varsity Lakes that still had a baby strapped into the back seat.

The boys, aged just 13 and 15, are accused of taking off in the vehicle last Wednesday on Southlake Drive, while the mother had ducked inside while the vehicle was still running.

The car was driven a short distance before being found abandoned a short time later.

The 7-month-old baby boy was not [physically injured in the terrifying ordeal and was swiftly returned to his mother.

Following investigations, a 13-year-old Coomera boy was located and arrested in Logan on September 24.

He has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and abduction of a child under 16.

He has been denied police bail and is expected to reappear at Southport Children’s Court on October 11.

Following further investigations, police located and arrested a 15-year-old boy on September 25.

A 15-year-old Pimpama boy has been issued a notice to appear on one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
