Two men have been charged following a lengthy investigation into an arson attack at a local business in Arundel.
The duo are accused of deliberately setting alight Eye Candy Motorsport on Distribution Court on June 28.
The business is owned by Gold Coast Instagram influencer ‘Troy Candy’, with police believing the firebomb was likely a “payback” attack.
This morning, police executed search warrants at properties in Moorooka and Eagleby where two men were taken into custody.
A 49-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with arson and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
A 51-year-old Moorooka man has been charged with arson, possess a dangerous drug, possess utensil and unlawfully possession of a weapon (namely knuckle dusters).
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Police continue to investigate and appeal for information from the public about a fire that occurred in the same complex four days before this blaze.
It happened at around 3.30am on Saturday, June 24 at local family business ‘The Bento Buzz’.
Previously, police declared they believe the alleged attackers made a mistake by torching the first business and that they returned to the complex four days later for their intended target.
Anyone with any information or dashcam from the area that could assist detectives is urged to make contact.
