A mother and her son have died in a tragic house fire in Logan overnight.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Cypress Street in Woodridge just after 6pm on Sunday following reports of a blaze.
Upon arrival, they found the property completely engulfed in flames.
Despite desperate efforts by crews, the two people inside the home could not be saved and died at the scene.
Police have confirmed the pair were believed to be an 80-year-old woman and a 60-year-old disabled man.
“We believe they maybe have some form of disability, which would have hindered them leaving the property,”Acting Inspector Mark Proctor said.
“It’s extremely tragic circumstances”.
It’s not yet known what sparked the blaze, with fire investigators expected to return to the scene this morning to try and piece together the cause.
Police are appealing for anyone with information that could assist to come forward.
