It’s been a busy night for emergency services on the Gold Coast, with two nasty crashes happening on the same road just an hour apart.

Around 10.45pm on Thursday night, a Ford Fiesta was travelling north on Olsen Avenue in Molendinar when it lost control near the intersection with Crestwood Drive.

The vehicle then collided with the median strip, causing it to flip several times before slamming into a tree.

The 30-year-old male driver was lucky to escape serious injury but was still taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Queensland Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident, including looking in to whether speed or alcohol may have been a factor.

Just an hour later, another car lost control on Olsen Avenue through Ashmore.

The female driver crashed through a garden and into the carpark of a gym where she hit a parked van.

The vehicle then smashed through a fence and got stuck in between the fence and the brick wall of the shopping centre next door.

A tow truck then had to help winch her free before she was taken to hospital as a precaution.
