A man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition following a terrifying truck crash on the Gold Coast overnight.
According to police, the truck was travelling down Tamborine Oxenford Road in Wongawallan around 10pm on Tuesday, when his brakes failed to slow down.
The vehicle then ploughed into an embankment, trapping the 28-year-old driver behind the wheel of the truck.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and worked to free the man for more than an hour.
He was then treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious abdominal, leg and pelvic injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating, with detectives appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam to come forward.
