A multi-vehicle collision is causing big delays for motorists on the Pacific Motorway this afternoon.

Three cars collided northbound at Currumbin Waters on the M1 just before 4pm today.

One of the vehicles was flipped onto its roof in the crash just before the Steward Road exit.

Paramedics treated a male and a female patient at the scene, transporting one patient to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area, or to allow for extra travel time, with traffic currently back past Coolangatta.
