A woman has been seriously injured in a horror hit-and-run on the Gold Coast.

The tourist in her 20s was struck “at speed” by a motorbike in Parkwood around 12.30am Sunday morning.

The woman was crossing Parklands Drive at the intersection of Olsen Avenue, near GCUH, when it happened.

The rider sped off from the scene travelling north toward Musgrave and Napper Roads, and remains on the run.

Nearby bystanders and police rushed to assist the young tourist, before she was taken to hospital with serious injuries including a suspected fractured leg.

Police are appealing for information as they continue to hunt down the rider.

“The motorcycle is believed to be a green road bike and the rider was wearing a black helmet, light-coloured jacket and a backpack,” a QPS statement reads.
