A 3-year-old girl is in a coma after drowning during a party at a home on the Gold Coast.
The girl was not breathing when she was pulled from a pool at the property in Oxenford yesterday afternoon.
Paramedics performed CPR and resuscitated the child before she was rushed to hospital.
Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles has told the ABC – it’s a timely reminder about security around pools ahead of summer.
“Essentially what was happening is there was a party that was occurring with adults and children, they had left the gate open to allow the kids to move in and out of the pool,”
“While they were distracted with a jumping castle, the 3-year-old has walked in and CCTV captured the young girl trying to grab a floating mattress before toppling into the water.”
The girl remains in hospital this morning fighting for life.
