The Gold Coast Titans have referred star player AJ Brimson to the NRL Integrity Unit over a controversial social media post on Melbourne Cup Day.
Brimson posted a story on Instagram on Tuesday showing his tidy win in the race that stops a nation.
The story was a screenshot of a Sportsbet account showing a win of $10,100 from a $100 bet on Cup winner Knight’s Choice.
But the image also shows other bets underneath which have been partly obscured, with allegations those bets are on rugby league matches.
NRL players are banned from betting on rugby league games.
The story was deleted a short time later.
Brimson’s management has reportedly told Newscorp that the image is from his mother’s account.
“The Gold Coast Titans have referred a social media post made by AJ Brimson to the NRL’s Integrity Unit,” the club said in a statement.
“The club can’t comment further on this matter at this time.”
