Police have tracked down three men following a hit-and-run crash in Coolangatta.
Witnesses report seeing a grey Jeep Patriot doing burnouts on Musgrave Street around 4pm Monday afternoon.
The vehicle lost control and ploughed into a tree at a beachfront park, just metres from a playground.
The occupants fled the scene before police could arrive.
Three men were then taken into custody in Currumbin at approximately 5.20pm and are assisting police with their inquiries.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.
