Latest @ 10.50am: Three men have been charged with assault over an alleged brutal bashing in Surfers Paradise that hospitalised two men.
Two New South Wales men, aged 28 and 30, were walking along The Esplanade around 2am with “several women” when three other men allegedly started yelling at them.
The trio then allegedly viciously attacked the two NSW men, before fleeing on foot.
Both men had to be transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, with one man in a serious condition with head injuries.
The alleged attackers were busted by police a short distance away, and took them into custody.
A 31-year-old Caboolture man, a 31-year-old Strathpine man and a 32-year-old Zillmere man have all been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company.
They will front Southport Magistrates Court on July 11.
Earlier @ 9.30am: One man has been seriously injured following an alleged vicious attack in Surfers Paradise.
The man in his 30s was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury after being bashed along The Esplanade just before 2am last night.
A Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed they had made arrests, but couldn’t confirm whether it was two or three people.
Charges are yet to be laid, with an update expected shortly.
