Three students from an elite Gold Coast private school have been expelled over a vile list ranking female students.
The principal of Emmanuel College emailed parents earlier this week to inform them of “very concerning reports of inappropriate online behaviour involving some of our students”.
It’s understood a list emerged online ranking the ‘bottoms’ of schoolgirls, which eventually escalated into a ‘rape list’.
Students from at least two other local schools were also found to have been involved.
“The investigation found some students from the College and at least two other local schools had engaged in online behaviour involving offensive and inappropriate comments about female students,” Emmanuel College said in a statement.
“As soon as the information came to light, we took immediate action to investigate and address the situation thoroughly”.
Emmanuel College continued by saying “after a thorough investigation and careful consideration, a small number of students are no longer enrolled at the College”.
“We are appalled that a small minority of boys consider it acceptable to view girls in this way,” the school said.
“This behaviour was not consistent with our values as a caring, Christian community that places a high priority on safety and respect.
“It is disheartening that this behaviour still occurs in our society and we are appalled that a small minority of boys consider it acceptable to view girls in this way.
“At Emmanuel College, we are committed to fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, and support.”
No charges have been laid, however, the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit has been made aware of the incident and is engaging with the schools involved.
