Two teens have been charged following a failed attempt to break-in to a chemist on the northern Gold Coast.
The 14 and 17-year-olds are accused of smashing the front glass door of the chemist on Eggesdorf Rd at Ormeau around 4.30am on Saturday.
The pair failed to get inside and fled empty-handed.
The teens were located a short time later with the assistance of Polair.
The 17-year-old has been charged with attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, and will appear before the Southport Children’s Court.
The 14-year-old boy has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted enter premise with intent to commit indictable offence, stealing and receiving tainted property and will also front the Southport Children’s Court.
It’s the latest in a series of break-ins and attempted break-ins on chemists across the Gold Coast.
“There’s no cunning and clever crime involved here. It’s a sledgehammer and a glass front door. They come straight up and smash the door in, grab what they can as quick as they can and get out,” Superintendent Geoff Sheldon told the ABC.
“They’re just a smash and grab thing.”
