A 19-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after plunging 20m down a cliff face in the Gold Coast Hinterland.
According to police, the young man was intending to jump from a waterfall at Gorge Falls in Tallebudgera Valley around 12.45pm on Sunday when he slipped and fell.
The man, who was with a group of friends at the time, suffered serious back injuries in the fall.
It sparked a massive rescue operation involving Police, Queensland Ambulance and the Queensland Fire Department.
The Rescue 500 chopper was also tasked to the scene to help with the search and rescue response.
The teen was eventually stretchered out two hours later, with crews facing some difficulty in extricating him from the area due to the steep terrain.
He was then transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
