Surfers woman charged over violent attempted robbery on train

A young woman has been charged after allegedly trying to steal another woman’s phone on a train bound for the Gold Coast.

The 21-year-old is accused of violently trying to take the phone from a 59-year-old woman around 5.15pm on Wednesday.

Thankfully other passengers on the train came to the older woman’s aid until police were able to arrest the younger woman when the train stopped at Southbank Station.

The Surfers Paradise local was taken into custody and has since been charged with attempted robbery with violence.

She is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court later today.
