Fire investigators will return to the scene of a massive house fire on the Gold Coast today as they continue to try and piece together the cause.

The ferocious inferno erupted at a two-storey property along Boykambil Esplanade North in Hope Island just before midday on Saturday.

The two occupants managed to get out just in time, but were forced to watch on as their house and all of their belongings were gutted by flames.

It’s since been revealed that the home was where Supercars driver Declan Fraser had been living since relocating to the Gold Coast.

The 24-year-old was racing at Mount Panorama when the blaze erupted, destroying all of his trophies and possessions.

“Yesterday when Andre Heimgartner was doing his shootout, on the Gold Coast Declan’s house was burning down – quite literally – so he’s lost everything,” Supercars commentator Neil Crompton revealed on Sunday.

“His dad spoke to me this morning … all of his trophies are gone, he’s asked how we might be able to be in a position to buy or replicate them. He hasn’t even got clothes.”

It’s still unclear exactly what sparked the fire, but police say early investigations suggest it may have started in a motorbike in the garage.

Investigations are ongoing.
