State Government will meet on the Gold Coast today to discuss the ‘Big Builds’ being delivered across the city.

Ministers will be visiting key infrastructure sites including the Coomera Connector, the light rail and the Coomera Hospital.

They’ll also be out and about to learn more about the priorities and issues around the region and share any future plans.

Gold Coast Minister Meaghan Scanlon has told myGC it’s a great opportunity for ministers to engage with locals.

“We’ll be visiting the second M1 site and the light rail depot, and of course, ministers will be meeting with organizations and community members up and down the Gold Coast,” Minister Scanlon says.

“We acknowledge that the Gold Coast is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and we’re committed to improving connectivity, access to healthcare, housing support, a whole range of those things that we know the Gold Coast needs as it continues to grow.”

One of the other key issues to be discussed includes the new Coomera Hospital, with more details revealed today about the $1.3 billion facility.

State Government admits the 404-bed hospital is critical for the city, as the population continues to boom – especially in the northern region.

Multiplex Constructions will begin work soon, with the hospital set to open its doors in late 2027.

Minister Scanlon says it’ll cover all bases.

“The new hospital in Coomera will include surgical, medical, ambulatory, subacute, emergency and mental health treatment facilities. It’ll also have operating theatres, birthing suites, and consult rooms, so it’s a very significant investment,

“And of course, it’s just one hospital that we’re delivering on the Gold Coast. We’re also delivering a satellite hospital in Tugun and we’re expanding Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital as well,

“So there’s a lot of investment being poured into Gold Coast health because we know the city is growing and that is needed.”
