Sonny Bill Williams’ sister Niall Guthrie is following in her big brother’s footsteps and making the switch from Rugby Union to League.
The 34-year-old, who has been a star of the New Zealand rugby sevens side for almost a decade, has signed with the Gold Coast Titans in the NRLW.
The strike weapon will make the move across the ditch at the completion of the World Rugby Sevens Series in France next month, before calling the coast home for the next two seasons.
Titans coach Karyn Murphy says she’s “extremely excited” to have the well-renowned star joining her squad.
“Niall might have a famous surname, but she is a very talented athlete in her own right with nearly 20 years of representative experience,” she said.
“This has included being a past Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist with the Black Ferns and a long-time successful New Zealand touch football representative captain.”

Murphy says Niall will bring an incredible amount of experience and professionalism to the squad.
“Her extreme athletic ability, speed and agility is why she is a very versatile player that will make a valuable contribution to our team,” she said.
“In extension to her playing ability, her values, passion and energy for the community aligns hand-in-hand with our club’s purpose and I’m so excited for Niall to reach new heights on and off the field with us here at the Titans.”
It comes as the NRLW prepares to expand from six teams to 10 this season, with the addition of the North Queensland Cowboys, Cronulla Sharks, Canberra Raiders and Wests Tigers.
