Sinkhole still causing traffic chaos in Surfers Paradise

A burst water main is still causing dramas in Surfers Paradise this morning, with motorists being urged to avoid the area.

The main burst on the corner of Ferny Avenue and Ocean Avenue early on Sunday morning, closing two northbound lanes of Ferny Avenue.

Crews remain on scene working to fix the burst main, but Council has advised myGC that repairs are expected to continue throughout most of Monday.

Traffic diversions remain in place, with drivers warned to expect a few delays if traveling through the area.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate travel arrangements,” a Council spokesperson said.
