All Gold Coast beaches remain closed today with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a severe weather warning for dangerous surf conditions.

Erosion along all of the southeast, including the Gold Coast, is a concern with the coastline copping a thrashing from powerful swell and strong winds.

“A powerful easterly swell combining with strong onshore winds are expected to generate deep water wave heights at or above 4m,” the Bureau of Meteorology says.

“Dangerous surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, swimming and surfing.”

A strong wind warning is also in place for all Gold Coast waterways.

These conditions are set to continue today, and should likely ease below warning thresholds this evening or overnight.
