A number of Gold Coast beaches have been closed today due to dangerous surf conditions.

Beaches north of Fourth Ave, Burleigh are off-limits to swimmers due to tidal surges and big swell.

They will remain closed for the remainder of the day.

“The southern beaches remain open but we urge all beachgoers to exercise extreme caution, only swim between the flags, and heed the directions of lifeguards,” a council spokesperson told myGC.

“Lifeguards will assess the beach conditions again tomorrow morning.”
