Over ten crews have worked into the night to control a bushfire in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The blaze broke out at around 4.30pm Sunday on approximately 2 acres of land off Rowe Lane in Cedar Creek.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson has told myGC firefighters conducted backburning to bring it under control and were on scene until just before midnight.

Airmapping was also conducted to get a better idea of how far spread the fire was, as some areas were hard to access.

There are still some active fire patches, with the grass to continue burning for a few days.
