A sculpture which celebrates 20 years of the Gold Coast Film Festival has taken centre-stage at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.
SWELL commissioned Blue Mountains artist Kate Moore to create the piece titled ‘Storyteller’ for this year’s event.
“Storyteller is a representation of the camera that pays homage to film, the artwork of vibrant, animated and flamboyant characters that pop up within the industry and idolisation of the artists, cinematographers, writers, producers, actors and audience alike,” said Ms Moore.
“This collaborative art composition celebrates 20 fabulous years of engaging, fun, innovative, provocative, heart wrenching, challenging topics developed and discussed through film in Australia, on the Gold Coast.”

Storyteller will take residence in The Resort area at Pacific Fair until May 1, with the centre to deliver a celebration of film through the school holidays.
The first of the activations is a Pop-Up Outdoor Cinema, screening Dora and the Lost City of Gold on the 7th April, and Big Fat Liar on 14th April.
Pacific Fair Studios is a free school holiday activation where kids are introduced to the behind the scenes of movies learning about animation, costume and cinematic film. These workshops will run from 2nd -17th April, 10am-3pm daily (excluding Good Friday).
Gold Coast Film Festival CEO, Josh Martin says it is amazing to see such a fabulous collaboration come to life.
“We have valued our partnership with SWELL over the years and to have a fantastic piece such as this take up residence with our festival partner Pacific Fair is just wonderful,” he said.
“We look forward to the Gold Coast taking part in our festival this year, whether it be to attend our red-carpet gals, panels, or the fabulous screenings we will have on offer, as we celebrate 20 years of our event.”
